Every season brings a new “it” colour, and every season, most of it doesn’t survive contact with a real home on the Pacific coast. What we’re actually seeing hold up across Riviera projects right now isn’t a single trend colour — it’s a formula: a warm neutral base, one grounding accent, and enough natural texture that the room never needs to shout to feel finished.

Warm Neutrals, Not Flat Ones.

The base of almost every interior we’re building right now is a warm neutral — sand, cream, warm white, soft taupe. Not the cool greys that dominated a decade ago, and not stark white either. These tones read differently in Pacific coast light: they pick up the gold of late afternoon sun instead of fighting it, and they stay inviting under the flatter light of an overcast morning.

This is exactly the palette behind the cream colourway of our MCM Armchair — a neutral warm enough to anchor a room on its own, without needing anything else to carry it.

Where the neutral foundation gives a room its calm, one grounding accent gives it a pulse. This is the piece that keeps a room from feeling like a hotel lobby — a single, saturated colour choice, used once, used well.

Texture Does the Rest.

Once the neutral foundation and the single accent are in place, the remaining work isn’t about adding more colour — it’s about adding texture. Boucle, linen, natural fiber, warm wood grain. These are what keep a restrained palette from reading as sparse.

This is exactly where the right rug earns its place. A textural, low-pile rug in the same neutral family as the walls grounds a room without introducing a competing colour — while a patterned one can quietly become the room’s secondary accent, working alongside rather than against the main statement piece.

The Formula, In a Real Room.

In practice, this looks like a living room with warm cream walls and a natural linen sofa, a single teal or terracotta accent chair positioned to catch the light, a low-pile neutral rug underfoot, and window treatments in an unbleached linen that lets the Pacific light filter through rather than fighting it. Nothing in the room is loud on its own. Together, it reads as considered.

This is the palette direction we’re building into new projects across Jacó right now — not because it’s trendy in the disposable sense, but because it holds up in this light, in this climate, and in the kind of home people actually want to come back to.
