Who We Are
Built from
the inside out.
Riviera Home Furniture is a family business rooted in Jacó, Costa Rica. What began as a curated selection of imported collections grew into something no one planned — a full workshop, a two-floor showroom, and a team that has furnished over 2,145 homes on the Pacific coast.
The workshop followed naturally. The knowledge was already there, the demand was clear, and the decision made itself. Today we import selectively from Asia, Mexico, and Indonesia, and build everything else here in Jacó — in native hardwoods chosen for their resistance to the tropical climate.
Every corner of your home. Custom-made furniture, imported collections, bedroom suites, kitchen islands, cabinetry, window treatments, and full turnkey installations — measured, made, and installed by our own team. No subcontractors. No coordination gaps.
Craftsmen, advisors, installers — people who have been with us for over a decade. Every project carries all of their hands.

You have a project. We’ve done this hundreds of times.
“This place became our home. Everything we build is for the people who feel the same way.”
The Founders
From Finland
to the Pacific coast.
Don Unto Heikkila and Doña Anja Heikkila arrived in Costa Rica over 35 years ago. They came from Finland — a culture built on craftsmanship, honest materials, and design that endures. They fell in love with the country, settled on the Pacific coast, and never left.
Don Unto’s first work was with hotels. Faced with the demands of high-traffic hospitality — furniture that had to be silent, durable, and maintenance-free in a tropical climate — he began engineering his own solutions. That instinct led to inventions no one else had thought to make, including a patented bed base that remains one of the most sought-after pieces in the Riviera showroom today.
Doña Anja brought a European eye for proportion, color, and textile. Together they built something the Pacific coast had never seen — a furniture source that understood both the aspirations of international buyers and the realities of the environment they were buying for.
The Workshop
Built by our own hands.
Our Workshop · Jacó
Where every
piece begins.
Our workshop on Calle Ancha has been producing custom furniture for over a decade. Bed frames, headboards, sofas, dining tables, nightstands, kitchen islands — built to your exact dimensions in native hardwoods selected for tropical performance.
Teak, melina, cristóbal — species that have proven their resistance to humidity, salt air, and the relentless Pacific sun. The techniques are traditional. The tolerances are not.
When you commission a piece from us, it is built here — a few kilometers from where it will live. No container delays. No substitutions. No surprises at delivery.
Something custom in mind? Let’s build it together.
