Who We Are
Built from
the inside out.
Riviera Home Furniture is a family business rooted in Jacó, Costa Rica. What started as a curated import of limited-edition collections slowly grew into something larger — a full workshop, a two-floor showroom, and a team that has furnished over 2,145 homes on the Pacific coast.
The workshop grew naturally — the knowledge was already there, the need was clear, and the decision made itself. Today we import selectively from Asia, Mexico, and beyond, and build everything else here in Jacó using native hardwoods chosen for their resistance to the tropical climate.
Our services cover every corner of your home. Custom-made furniture, imported collections, bedroom suites, kitchen islands, cabinetry, curtains and full turnkey installations — measured, made, and installed by our own team.
Craftsmen, advisors, installers — a team that has been with us for over a decade. Every project carries all of their hands.

The Founders
From Finland
to the Pacific coast.
Don Unto Heikkila and Doña Anja Heikkila arrived in Costa Rica over 35 years ago. They came from Finland — a culture built on craftsmanship, honest materials, and design that endures. They fell in love with the country, and eventually settled on the Pacific coast in Jacó.
Don Unto’s first work was with hotels. Faced with the specific demands of high-traffic hospitality — beds that needed to be silent, durable, and maintenance-free in a tropical climate — he began engineering his own solutions. That problem-solving instinct led to inventions that no one else had thought to make, including a patented bed base that remains one of the most sought-after products in the Riviera showroom today.
Doña Anja brought a European eye for proportion, color, and textile. Together they built something the Pacific coast had never seen before — a furniture source that understood both the aspirations of international buyers and the realities of the tropical environment.

Our Workshop · Jacó
Where every
piece begins.
Our workshop in Jacó has been producing custom furniture for over a decade. Bed frames, headboards, sofas, dining tables, nightstands, kitchen islands — built to your exact dimensions using native hardwoods selected for durability in the tropics.
We work with melina, teak, and other local species that have proven their resistance to humidity, salt air, and the relentless Pacific sun. The techniques are traditional. The precision is uncompromising.
When you commission a piece from us, it is built here — a few kilometers from where it will live. No container delays, no substitutions, no surprises.
Something custom in mind? Let’s build it together.
